Pedestrian Friendly

Building a pedestrian friendly city with great lighting would be wonderful. This would help us attack some of the health and safety issues. This could go a long ways in making Rockford a more active, friendly, and happy city.

Finish River Development

Rockford needs to finish the development of the Riverfront! We have so much potential to attract visitors and new businesses if we make it the gem it can be. We need to bring more specialty shops, a zoo would be great to implement, and aquarium, expand the library and redesign it so it does not look like a prison, move the assisted housing away from the inner city, instead of grouping it all close together. City Hall needs to loosen up!

Prime example: food trucks. The food truck phenomenon is sweeping the country. It's my understanding city hall is resistant. Why? It can't be that hard for the health department to do their inspections. Free the food trucks! It's one small step.

Train/mentor the (homeless,unemployed,paroled,released) population to a skilled trade while accomplishing necessary community improvement tasks such as;

Tearing down and recycling/scrapping of condemned properties.

Remodeling of salvageable properties.

99% of what we eat in Rockford is imported from out of state. Results: less jobs here, poor quality food, health problems. Let’s aim to grow 50% of our food in the region for jobs, health and land stewardship

Reach out to leaders in banking, law, accounting, marketing, sales, manufacturing, healthcare, etc. to volunteer to provide mentorship and training to aspiring entrepreneurs. Develop ways for providing capital and financing for current and new entrepreneurs. Establish micro capital and financing for the smallest of businesses.
